OMINVEST awarded for “Empowering Women for Career Growth and Excellence”



Oman International Development and Investment Company (OMINVEST) received Al Mar’a Excellence Award 2020 for “Empowering Women for Career Growth and Excellence”. The award was received during an event organised by United Media Services (UMS) and attended by HE Laila bint Ahmed Al Najjar, Minister of Social Development; Honourable Lujaina bint Mohsin Darwish, Member, State Council; and HE Asila bint Salim Al Samsami, Undersecretary of Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion.

Al Mar’a Excellence Awards recognise the achievements and entrepreneurial zeal of women, encouraging Omani women who have conquered the odds and have reached challenging positions in diverse areas like business, government, industry, fashion, sport, education and other relevant fields. Al Mar’a Excellence Awards committee presented OMINVEST with this special award in recognition of the company’s tremendous efforts in empowering women over the years.

We have always believed in the importance of enabling and empowering women due to their vital role in achieving sustainable socio-economic development. At the moment, around 43 per cent of our employees are women, of whom 83 per cent are Omanis”, said Abdulaziz Al Balulshi, Group CEO, OMINVEST.

Several key functions at OMINVEST are held by women, including board secretary, nomination & remuneration executive committee secretary; legal and compliance; risk management; corporate communications; social impact, and economic impact.

At the awards announcement event, Sarah Lashkoo, Board Secretary and Head of Legal and Compliance at OMINVEST received the award on behalf of the company. She also actively represented the company in a panel that discussed women empowerment, equal opportunities, and women’s contribution to development across the past 50 years and in the future.
